Have you noticed how weather forecasting has improved over the years? Advances in forecast modeling and Artificial Intelligence have helped. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) controls the satellites that provide the raw data to weather forecasters. NOAA's mission “… is to understand and predict our changing environment, from the deep sea to outer space, and to manage and conserve America's coastal and marine resources.”
This mission affects air travel, space operations, ocean travel and to an extent, ground travel with flood warnings. NOAA uses satellite and ground data to further its mission.
